Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710175537

Let us analyze just what the Senator from Tennessee has said. If Mexicans were illegally admitted into the United States they did not come in by the consent of the State Department. They could only come in by the consent of the United States Immigration Service. a branch of the Department of Labor. which the Senator has just praised. I do not believe for a moment that the Immigration Service agreed to their illegal entry any more than the State Department did. The Mexicans to which the Senator has referred must have sneaked around the very limited number of men that are placed on the border to guard it and entered the United States without their knowledge.
