I ask that. by unanimous consent. the clerk may read the bill. It is brief. The bill to regulate the migration of citizens of the Philippine Islands to the continental United States. and for other purposes. was read the first time by its title. the second time at length. and referred to the Committee on Immigration. as follows: Be it enacted. etc.. That from and after July 1. 1930. migration of citizens of the Philippine Islands to continental United States shall be limited to students. visitors for business or pleasure. merchants. government officials. their families. attendants. servants. and employees. ] For the issuance of permits to travel to continental United States an official shall be designated as provided In paragraph (f) of section 28 of the immigration act of 1924. as amended. This act shall be In force and effect for five years from and after the date of its approval. and If within that time the independence of the Philippines shall have been granted or by act of Congress definitely provided for. then this act shall continue in force indefinitely thereafter.
