I am not certain but what there is merit in the suggestion. but I am in favor of placing Mexico and other Central and South American countries under the quota just as European and Asiatic countries are. and shall vote that way. Some amendments are going to be offered. The able and splendid Senator from Wyoming is in favor of something along the line suggested by the Senator from Michigan. I say frankly that if we can not get the bill passed as it Is now before us. I shall favor amendments necessary for the passage of the bill. but the nearer such amendment comes to the provision of my bill the better it will suit me.
