I think we have enough votes without those Senators. but I did not want to take any chance. because I think letting in the labor that has been coming into this country from all sections has been a great injury to the United States. and certainly to the laboring people. In the last campaign there was nothing that helped Mr. Hoover more than this immigration question. and the people expect action on it. I tried to have the matter considered early in the special session. This cheap Mexican labor coming into this country and working in the cotton fields of Texas and Oklahoma increases the surplus cotton. and this reduces the price of cotton all over the Cotton Belt.
