The practical matter we are up against. or will be in a very few moments. I suppose. is the amendment which has just been offered by the Senator from Louisiana . I should like to get the Senators reaction on this phase of the matter. because I have great respect for the Senator from Montana. and sympathize with many of his views on these subjects. We have on our Federal statute books laws preventing the admission into the United States of aliens who advocate the violation of our laws. and we authorize theFederal Government to deport aliens who advocate the violation of our laws. which is not as serious as a charge of treason. How can we reconcile our refusal to admit or our deportation of aliens who advocate merely the violation of the law with the free admission of literature that advocates the same thing that they advocate while here?
