Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710110067

Mr. Chairman and members of the committee. this is one time when I agree with the gentleman from Washington . chairman of the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization. It seems to me he is well qualified to advise the Committee of the Whole as to certain problems that confront him daily In the committee hearing . I hope the chairman of the Committee on Appropriations will give study to some of the problems which confront the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization daily. some of the problems that we can not answer or attempt to solve because of lack of sufficient funds in that department to carry on the work. I might not agree with the gentleman that an appropriation of $100.000 is going to do the very thing he thinks it is going to do. I do not agree with a number of Members of the House that they are going to put the fear of God into every criminal and stop crime.
