Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710096199

If the Senator from Wisconsin will permit me. I will state that one of the reasons given before the Committee on Immigration for preventing Mexican labor from coming into this country is the very reason he has statedthat it Is impossible to get American people to do tie work. Those who bring that Mexican labor into this country refuse to be responsible for seeing that they are returned. and the hardest fight that is being carried on in the Immigration Committee by those of us who are in favor of keeping out this foreign labor is because of the fact that the people across the line who want to use these Mexicans do use them because American women and children will not do the work that the Senator from Wisconsin has described.
