On my partand I believe on the part of the chairman and other members of the committee--there is not the slightest disposition to deal bitterly or unkindly with the people of any country or any section. I have no such bitterness. and my only purpose. so far as I am able to judge of my purpose. is to do that which is best for my State and for the whole Nation. Beginning when this House first honored me with a place on this committee and with my active studies of our Immigration problem. I discovered that such legislation as this was necessary. Further studies have confirmed and intensified my conviction.
