My connections with those companies has been such as to make me keenly aware of the factors of American prosperity. I need no political warning of the fact that. under postwar world conditions. a tariff or an immigration policy which falls adequately to protect capital and labor honestly and efficiently employed in our Industry and agriculture can and will promptly turn prosperity Into depression.
