Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710030797

President. I shall detain the Senate for just a few moments. I have listened with some amazement to some of the statements which have been made upon the floor of the Senate while .this resolution relating to immigration has been pending. I find myself in accord with the view taken by the Senator from North Dakota . and find myself in opposition to those "pseudolRepublicans" who are opposing the President of the United States at this time. The statiuent was made the other dayI think by the Senator from Pennsylvania -that we were letting in a lot of "slacker aliens." I was curious to know just what he meant by the statement. and I am not sure whether it was his statement or something that he read.
