I have no desire to delay this vote in any degree at all. but a statement was made by the Senator from Pennsylvania [Mr. Rs D] in his argument upon the nationalorigins matter a few days ago that I think ought to be clarified for the sake of the record. Under the 1890 basis. today 31 per cent of all the immigration into the United States comes from Germany. By their own figures they have never claimed over 17 per cent of the white population of continental United States. I desire to ask the Senator if he was referring to the author Faust as his authority?
