Some of the most talented and able sons of the Empire came from Ireland. To sum the matter up. the nationalorigin theory is being promoted in connection with the statement that it will accomplish two things. First. Reduce the number of immigrants coming to this country. Second. Provide us a better class of immigrants. The first statement is. of course. without foundation. as I have previously shown. An analysis of the situation will show the second one to be very presumptuous. It is. in fact. indefensible. No one can successfully defend it when all of the facts bearing on the issue are known.
