I think. in the first place. that the class of German immigrants we are getting now and have been getting in recent years Is a class superior. generally. to some of these others. We might as well deal frankly with each other about this matter. We are all talking here about our admiration for these various nations and how we respect all of them. and yet back -in our minds. in our real and deliberate. judgment. we know that there are people who will be admitted under either plan that we would much prefer not to have here at all. I think there is a better class of citizens coming. in a general waymore frugal. more industrious. more thriftyfrom those who will be reduced under the nationalorigins plan than from the other countries that the Senator mentions. That is what I believe.
