Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710026594

Mr. President. if the Senator had been here a little while ago he would have heard my statement that I yield to no one in my admiration for the German immigrant as a lawabiding citizen and as a desirable part of the composition of the United States. and nothing that I have said is intended to reflect on him. but I say that when any national group forms secret and oathbound societies to swerve the action of this Congress. the quicker we get it out into the daylight the better. Now. I want to go ahead with some more lists.
