Mr. Chairman. the remarks made by my good friend from the State of Michigan are rather interesting. but they tell only one side of the story. I have before me two tables which I introduced when this measure was under consideration at the last session. showing the population in each State and several large cities. of native born and naturalized citizens and aliens. and to supplement the contention that was just offered by the gentleman from Michigan. I call his attention to the fact that the city of Detroit had over 200.000 aliens in 1920. It is a matter of common knowledge that Detroit has greatly increased in size and population since that time. and now it is estimated to have between 300.000 and 400.000 aliens.
