At page 83 of this very interesting volume I find this paragraph. which I read as indicating where our colonial stock came from: At the time of the Revolutionary War the settlers In the thirteen Colonies were overwhelmingly Nordic. a very large majority being AngloSaxon in the most limited meaning of that term. The New England settlers In particular came from those counties of England where the blood was almost purely Saxon.
