Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710023586

Mr. President. the motion of the Senator from North Dakota is to proceed to the consideration of a resolution to discharge the Committee on Immigration from the further consideration of a repealer of the nationalorigins clause of the immigration act. I am inclined to think that it is to the best interest of all concerned that the resolution of discharge should come up and be discussed. and I do not believe that it Is necessary to have a very prolonged debate about it. but among those Senators who are most interested In this subject is the senior Senator fromArkansas . I understand that his plans are that he will not return to the Senate before next Wednesday.
