Then if he shall be molested in any way by an officer of the law. or if there shall arise any question as to his having a right to be in the country. the controversy may be easily settled by his presenting this card of admission. He is put to no more trouble about the matter. and the Government itself has a checkup to show that he has been properly admitted into the United States. There is another respect in which it is claimed it would be of service to the alien. and that is when he goes finally. if he does go. to the court for the purpose of being naturalized. the presentation of such a card or certificate will save him a great deal of unnecessary trouble in making proper preparation.
