Session #70 · 1927–29

Speech #700124894

I have here what Mr. Hoover in his acceptance speech said. I do not understand how the Senator overlooked it when he was taking us into his confidence and giving us his various communications touching the national origins provision. This is the last utterance that touched this important question. The Senator I think at the time was In Europe and perhapq did not read Mr. Hoovers acceptance speech. and I do not blame him for that. We shall amend the Immigration laws to relieve unnecessary hardships upon families. The Democratic candidate for President stated the same thing. There was no difference upon that question.
