Writing under date of or about February 4. 1928. he said: "I read with much interest your reply to the - Chamber of Commerce as to the Mexican immigration quota in the Dallas News of February 4. and I wish to congratulate you. "I have been watching with that degree of interest that I feel any good citizen would the matter of controlling Mexican immigration Into the United States and particularly our own dear land of Texas. When you began calling the attention to restriction of such Immigration I was inclined to disagree with you in this matter. So for The past few months I have been trying to Inform myself as to whether or not such restriction would be to the interest of the State and Government. I have been entirely convinced that your position is undeniably correct. * * * "* * * I met our mutual friend. . on the street this morning and he told me that he was just back from some point in Oklahoma where be had been at work as foreman of construction of a pipe line. and that more than 100 citizens of the county in which he worked had been discharged and replaced by the dirtiest group of Mexican peons that he had ever seenin his life. and that he resigned his position as foreman rather than work this class of labor.
