Session #70 · 1927–29

Speech #700066776

Their life blood saturated mimly a battle field upon the plains of France. Their maimed and crippled bodies have hallowed many a battle field. and the humble shaft or tombstone which commemorates their memory has written upon it the inscription: "They gave their life to fight for their adopted country. What will you native Americans do to preserve it?" Let me tell the gentleman from Florida that the reason his State is in such desperate. straits today is because they have not enough immigrants to plow their fields. to cultivate their soil. to fill the empty dwellings that are looking for tenants and to take advantage of that wonderful climatic condition with which nature has blessed Florida.
