Mr. Speaker. it is niost regrettable that this session of Congress did not see fit to repeal the nationalorigins clause of the 1924 immigration act outright and dispose of this question once and for all. However. under the circumstances I can not see that the House is to blame for the present situation. There is nothing else for us to do but to postpone the operation of this clause for another year. I join with the majority of the Members of this House in their desire to strike this provision from the bill at this time. but also agree with them that the better part of wisdom is to accept postponement for a year inasmuch as it is quite apparent that repeal at this particular time would be impossible.
