Session #70 · 1927–29

Speech #700011838

Chairman. I move to strike out the last two words. Gentlemen. no one in the House is more interested in the enforcement of the immigration law than I am. and every member of this subcommittee has manifested a like interest. We have gone out of our way on many occasions to make special inquiry with a view of providing additional funds for the enforcement of this law. and in order that you may know what has been done in the way of increasing the appropriations for this service I wish to submit some figures which I think you will grant shows a growing interest. and that a very helpful hand has been extended each year by Congress to this important service. In 1925 we increased the appropriation $1.200.000 over the previous year.
