Then that must be in accord with these figures that I obtained over the telephone. Mr. Chairman. this subject of naturalization is a hard one. It is pretty generally admitted by those who have studied the subject that the present naturalization laws hardly fit modern conditions. and only today I have had the pleasure of introduchng a new naturalization bill which represents in part the work of the committee of this House for upwards of four years time. It represents the work of some members of the committee during the fall and summer. and it represents the work of those who are conversant with naturalization in the Department of Labor as well as the work of certain members of the Senate committee. I would like to have you all get copies of that bill tomorrow and see whether it agrees with your views as to what a modern method of naturalization should be.
