Today I am able to announce to this great patriotic body that the committee of which I have the honor to be chairman has just reported to the House a bill to make more effective the deportation of criminal and defective aliens. I think this measure will pass both House and Senate. Under the provision of this bill we propose to send out of the country. after proper examinatloh with the presence of attorneys for the accused. alien criminals. alien gunmen. alien dealers in habitforming narcotic drugs. alien bootleggers [applause]. and all others who persist in violating the laws of the United States after they have come here from other countries. - If you will permit me.
