The front of the residence of the then Attorney General. Hon. A. Mitchell Palmer. on S street. in this city. was blown out the same night with an anarchists bomb. . Our committee had been working on a bill to make more drastic the anarchist exclusion laws of the United States. Soon after we were organized in the Sixtysixth Congress. we reported what Is known as the anarchist exclusion act. which is now act of June 5. 1920. This was the first public act of my incumbency as chairman. Efforts are made from time to time to amend. weaken. or abolish this piece of legislation.
