I was about to observe. Mr. President. that I have received many communications from various parts of the United States as to the 2rlbitrary. capricious. petty. and autocratic demeanor and conduct of some of the officials of the Immigration Bureau. They arrest men and women without rhyme or reason and threaten to deport them. and. as I am advised. have effectuated their object in a number of instances. I wish to say to the Senator from Wisconsin that there is pending before the Committee on Immigration a resolution which .1 offered which calls for an investigation of some of the activities of some of the agents of the Immigration Bureau in the matter of deporting men and women or arresting them in violation of the law. That resolution. I hope. will receive attention soon. I am sure that it relates to a matter ill which the Federal Government is interested. and the Committee on Immigration. if I have any voice in itand I am the ranking Democratic menber upon the committeewill be glad to look into that phase of the question.
