I want to call the attention of the gentleman to the inspectors and interpreters in the Immigration Service. with whom I served 18 years ago. These men are still doing their work. after 25 or 30 years service. and are getting only $1.800. and the maximum Is about $2.100. They have given all their lives to this work. They are specialists In their work. Surely something ought to be done to give these men a living wage. It is difficult to remedy the situation under the circumstances. but those men with whom I served 18 years ago are getting only from $1.500 to $1.800.
