I make bold to refer to my own remarks in the REcORD of that day. pages 56435647. because. although they were not directed to this particular point. they contain tables and a chart which are applicable to this discussion. The immigration bill was not finally passed In both Houses until more than a month later--May 15. 1924. RECORD. page 8589and during most of the intervening period it was il conference. I was one of the conferees. and I can say now that this amendment was one of the things most discussed in the conference committee.
