That is a record of which I think we can be justly proud. and is a fulfillment of the pledge of our. party for businesslike attention to the needs of our country. It is. furthermore. a continuation of the splendid record of achievement of the first session of the Sixtyeighth Congress. At the close of that sessiion I outlined briefly the work and accomplishments of that session-"the change in the rules of the House forced upon us at the beginning of the session making the achievements of both sessibns all the more notablethe new revenue bill. the immigration measure. the law to liberalize the World War veterans act. and many others. making a total of 393 laws and resolutions enacted during that session. and a total of 996 laws enacted during the entire Congress. That is a record that. so far as I know. has never been equaled. not even during the Sixtyseventh Congress when there were four sessions and when the total number of laws was only 931. In that Congress there were 414 actual days in session. as compared to 215 days in the Sixtyeighth Congress.
