No longer must the alien wait at Ellis Island or -in jail days. weeks. or even months for a hearing and final determination of his case. The docket of the Secretary of Labor has been kept clear. For example. during the months of August and September. 1924. the average was less than two and onehalf days per case before final disposition by the Secretary. because of the immigration court. There were as high as 40 hearings per day. and never less than three or four.
