Unfortunately the scales of equity are far out of balance at the present time. Through the protection afforded by laws enacted by Congress to industry and labor. the price of their products and the scale of their wages have become distinctly an American standard. The protective tariff. the Adamson law. immigration laws. the EschCummins Act have created a distinct standard or scale of prices and wages in practically every line of industrial activity except agriculture. It requires no argument to convince anyone that no set of men In any business. trade. calling. or profession will continue long in that business unless his balance is on the right side of the ledger. If he does not quit voluntarily and go into some other business. he will soon receive an invitation to quit from the bankruptcy court or the sheriffs summons.
