If I felt as some of the other Senators who have criticized It feel about it I would vote against it. I would not vote for a bill if I raised so many objections to it. I to not believe they are going to do that. however. for they know this is the best immigration bill ever passed by Congress. I think the Senate and the country understand that we have done renmarkably well. and that we have gotten a better bill than we ever hoped to get a few years ago. I opposed President Coolidges recommendations relative to .Japanese exclusion. I insisted that Congress alone should control in immigration niattersit is not a question to be settled by treatyI favored and fought for exclusion of Japanese anl tn glad Congress took thlt view of it.
