They are raising intensive crops of that kind. But I am not arguing as to whether or not we need more farmers or farm labor now. We are preparing a bill for the whole country. and if there is a condition in any State that is not known to a Senator from another State. does not that justify our leaving It to the people of that State to determine where the immigration is sought? That Is all I ask in the amendment. The privilege may never be exercised. but if it is used there is one thing sure. and that is that we will get the highest class of aliens that can come from those countries. The thing that the people of this country are most interested In at the present time is the character of immigrants that are to be brought into our country.
