Session #68 · 1923–25

Speech #680085935

President. I did not write that plank. I did not suggest it. but it expresses very clearly and very definitely the views which I have often expressed in public addresses throughout the State. I have myself introduced a joint resolution proposing a constitutional amendment to provide that children of Asiatics born in this country shall not be considered as oitizens of this country. As yet. however. no action has been taken with reference to It. One reason. Mr. President. why I am in favor of these very stringent restrictive measures is because I want to put off just as long as possible the time when we shall have a density of population in this country compared to that in Europe or other countries.
