I want to call attention to the suggestion made by the Senator from Georgia . It may beI am not advised. I have talked to several Members of the Senatethat a majority of the Senate would be willing to vote for at least a temporary suspension of the immigration law. It seemed to me that it inight be wise to test the sentiment of the Senate In that respect. The Senator from Georgia has asl amendment which. if It or one like it were adoptedthat is. one different In the length of time that we would suspend immigrationwould make unnecessary these proposed amendments and substitutes. It is my opinion that that would be the orderly way for us to proceed.
