I should be very glad if the Senator from California would enlighten me on two points. particularly on one. Of course. no one wants deeply to offend the great nation of Japan. We have had too much to do with Its progress and prosperity and we are too intimately connected with it in the Pacific to desire to do such a thing. The first question which I desire to ask the Senator from California is with regard to our treaty with Japan. I understand from the Senator that as to the treaty of 1911. which we have with Japan every provision regarding immigration is protected and recognized in the amendment which the Senator from California has offered and which is now pending before the Senate?
