They are not worth the paper on which they are written. They may state correctly the fact that that many came. but they do not mean anything to me so far as showing that more did not come is concerned. because I am convinced that they did. Some of our immigration agents can talk and say that we ought to have this restriction and that to show that they are in thorough sympathy with restricting Immlgration. That is one way to remove suspicion from them. but that does not answer the charge that men and women are coming into this country by the wholesale in violation of the immigration law and no account is kept of them. Steamship. companies are making money by bringing them here. Agents are employed to go abroad to herd them like cattle and bring them here. and after they come here what situation is pxesented for our serious consideration?
