Today. Commissioner Landis is quoted as saying "that most of the aliens. at least 85 per cent. were those whom this country could not assimilate properly. Until 1890 the Nordic races led in immigration. and then the Slav and Latin races began to come. No student of history could make such a statement. I wonder what Commissioner Landis thinks of the 400.000 young men who waived exemption and willingly entered the service of this country in the World War?
