In fact. 1 was examiing iimligrants aS a n official before some of the high officials of this Government asking for this bill were Anmerican citizens. At my port. the port of Flume. I inspected 60.000 in 1904. 1905. 1006. and I did not let the steamships tell me how to do it. either. I examined every immigrant. and out of tle 60.000 immigrants that embarked at my port in those years only 16) were deported. Look up the records.
