Session #68 · 1923–25

Speech #680076440

I do. however. differ quite materially from him in certain statements he makes. and also from the gentleman from Tennessee [Mr. T.AYLoR]. who spoke a few minutes ago. The undercurrent of the thought of both gentlemen seemed to be that there was a desire to make this a dumping ground for the poor centers of immigration to this country. I stand for nothing of that kind. We do not want the kind of immigration coming here that will fill up the ships in the manner the gentleman from Texas [Mr. Bo-. described. What is it to us that hundreds of thousands of people may want to come to this country who can not legally come here?
