I have not as yet heard an argument for using the 1890 census as a basis for quota computations that offsets the fact that this discriminates against certain nations. Gentlemen. I am in favor of restriction. but I an opposed to the form of restriction advocated by the bill we are now considering. Bear in mind that this bill also carries a proviso for selective immigration. and it is not necessary to di.criminate in order to obtain selective and restrictive Immigraton. Now. gentlemen. I refer you to your table of statistics. and trust that you will have no difficulty in agreeing with me that those nations. namely.
