Mr. President. there is pending i. the House bill 1995. for the purpose of controlling or restricting immigration into our country. There is also pending in the Senate ali immigration bill. We of the West. particularly of California and the other Pacific Coast States. have fixed and unalterable convictions as to certain features of this proposed legislation. We are unalterably opposed to the further immigration of aliens ineligible to citizenship. I have been furnished with a statement prepared by Mr. V. S. McClatchy. of California. setting forth the views of the California delegation. which. I think I may say. are the views of many of the delegations of tie Westa statement which states that it embodies the deliberate views of the American Federation of Labor. the Anmerican Legion. the National Grange. and other State and national organizations.
