I hope we will not delay longer. as it is now several weeks since this legislation was petitioned for. I myself introduced a resolution for this purpose early in December. It seems to me. as the Senator from Mississippi [Mr. W11uAars] .has said. that this legislation is in the interest of humanity and a patriotic act. I wish the bill was somewhat broader in its -scope. but it has been very carefully drawn. and It is more definite and restrictive than the resolution offered by me and fully protects the country against any abuses of our immigration laws.
