The bill as agreed upon. as I have stated. finally carries $26.295.601. The estimates were $25.891.091. so that tie bill as finally agreed upon is $404.511 in excess of the estimates. In this connection I wish to say thatt $300.000 of this was put on by the House as an addition to the $3.000.000 requested In the Budget for the Immigration Service. The Committee on Appropriations recommended $440.000 in addition to the Budget on the maternity item. The law creating the maternity activities in the Government provided for the expenditiue of $1.240.000 a year. while the Budget recommended only $800.000.
