On yesterday while the gentleman from Alabama was discussing the matter raised by the gentleman from California : I suggested to him that Mr. Magon. whom he was then talking about. had had the charity of this Government extended to him in the form of a prison by Government oflicials instead of ideporting him. The gentleman from California . who is very careful of the RECORD. took the liberty of suggestung to the House that I did not know what I was talking about. and that there had been no order of deportation. I do mot want to be put in the attitude of stating anything that I .do not know about. and I knew the wisdom of the gentleman from California [M. .RAx ] and natarally felt some alarm. Mr.
