I will agree that it is important. but we need not destroy our own industries. which I am going to show. too. before I get through. in order to have foreign trade. Then. again. you have the Importers. many of them great owners of department stores in this country. the Shylocks of Americado not forget that. and I will prove it before the bill is passedthe great Shylocks of America. A thousand per cent is a common thing with them on goods produced by the pauper labor of Europe. which they bring in here and sell to the American people. They are supported by the great daily newspapers. of which the department stores are the best customers. Of course the Senator from Kentucky and his Democratic colleagues have a right to be encouraged. with all these great daily papers advocating their cause.
