The conference report and accompanying statement were read. as follows: The committee of conference on the disagreeing votes of the two Houses on the amendments of the Senate to the joint resolution (H. J. Res. 268) extending the operation of the immigration act of May 19. 1921. having met. after full and free conference have agreed to recommend and do recommend to their respective Houses as follows: Amendment numbered 1: That the House recede from its disagreement to the amendment of the Senate numbered 1. and agree to the same with an aimendment as follows: In.lieu of the matter proposed to be inserted by the Senate amendment insert "1.924 ". and the Senate agree to the same. Amendment numbered 2: That the House recede from its disagreement to the amendment of the Senate numbered 2. and agree to the same with an amendment as follows: In lieu of the matter proposed to be inserted by the Senate amendment insert the following: " SEC. 2. That clause (7) of subdivision (a) of section 2 of such act of May 19. 1921. is amended to read as follows: (7) aliens who have resided continuously for at least five years immediately preceding the time of their application for. admission to the United States in the Dominion of Canada.
