He had marfled and had some little children. He decided that he would like to return to France and look up the relatives of his wife who lived therep He obtained a passport for that purpose and applied to the French consul in New York to have it vised. the French consul refused to vis6 it on the ground that lie had not returned to France and joined the French Army and fought for France in the late war.
