Session #67 · 1921–23

Speech #670209590

In a minute. I will just get through with this. and then I will yield. In the days of Marquis de Lafayette " deportation " was known as "banishment." The old remedy of the old French nonarchy. which was tied up with the Bastille. and which we thought had fallen with the fall of the Bastille. is now invoked to protect the nativeborn members of the bootleggers union from foreign competition. I am inclined to think that this bill will pass. because I hold in imy hand general order No. 17. I might say. of the generalissinio of the forces who hlack this bill. and for the first time today I am interested to notice that the bootleggers union of America is fighting under the banner of the AntiSaloon League of America.
